Establishment and History of the Department

Department of Agricultural Economics was established in 1977 as a part of Faculty of Agriculture in Ege University which is one of the biggest universities in Turkey to develop Aegean Region’s agriculture economically. The Department of Agricultural Economics undertakes such basic functions as research, education and extension. Conducting academic researches and developing new practical methods to find out solutions for economic, social and political problems of agriculture both at micro and macro level and extending the results from these researches to related areas are the missions of the department.
